Burners Without Borders

Burners Without Borders (BWB) is a grassroots, volunteer-driven, organization whose goal is to unlock the creativity of local communities to solve problems, and bring about meaningful change.

Founded after Hurricane Katrina, BWB has grown into a dynamic international organization made up of an army of highly creative volunteers.

People inspired by the principles of BWB take the initiative to bring creative solutions to issues they care about.

From using art to save camp fires at San Francisco's Ocean Beach, or mobilising volunteers to support the survivors of the 2007 earthquake in Pisco, Peru,  BWB's innovative solutions make a real impact.

IDV and BWB have long history of partnership, as our founding members worked with BWB in Peru before going on to form IDV. Since then BWB have supported IDV through several vitial grants.

Soon after our founding in 2009, BWB provided initial financial support of $500 through their “community stimulus programme”.  In 2010, BWB also donated a fantasic $3,000 to support the Hands Together to Defend the Children Orphanage in Haiti.

In 2013, BWB also funded an IDV youth theatre art workshop near Manila in the Philippines. In 2014 they also awarded funding for our Community and Urban Gardening project in Tacloban, following typhoon Haiyan.

The support and creative energy that BWB has provided IDV has been invaluable, and we look forward to continued collaborations and mutual support.
