Maricel's Story

Before Yolanda (Typhoon Haiyan), Maricel lived in a wooden house with her husband, Stephan, and her three kids – Princess, Shane and Angel. Maricel was a teacher at the San Agustin school and Stephan, worked as a farmer until he saved up enough to buy a motorbike and begin working as a driver. The family wasn’t rich, but they got by. Getting Shane Back to School

Five year old Shane lives in Tacloban. While typhoon Haiyan’s aftermath was hard on all of Tacloban’s residents, it’s was particularly hard on Shane and his family because Shane is autistic. Read more »

$115,000 for Haiyan Response

We would like to extend a huge thank you to GlobalGiving for awarding IDV with three grants in support of our Super Typhoon Haiyan response!
